CinéWilde presents “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”
Director: Fran Rubel Kuzui
1992, USA, 86 mins., Digital Cinema, PG-13
Grab your pom-poms and sharpen your stakes because Buffy the Vampire Slayer is on the hunt this month at CinéWilde!
Five years before the hit TV series, Joss Whedon helped create this stylish 1992 horror-comedy about a high school cheerleader who starts slaying the undead when they invade her California hometown. It features a slay-worthy ’90s soundtrack, the late “90210” heartthrob Luke Perry, Donald Sutherland, Rutger Hauer, and gay actor Paul Reubens (aka. Pee-Wee Herman) as a hilariously bloodthirsty underling.
Before the film, enjoy some bloody delicious cocktails as we discuss how “Buffy” became a trailblazing feminist and queer superhero phenomenon. And afterwards, stick around and share some of your deepest, darkest secrets in a fun, interactive art event (more details to come).
