TNT103: UNDEFEATABLE (1993) + Q&A with star Don “Stingray” Niam!!!
Dir. Godfrey Hall aka Godfrey Ho
Martial Arts/Thriller
Hong Kong via Maryland, US of A
“What’s Stingray have eyeballs in a fish tank for?”
Cynthia Rothrock plays Kristi Jones, leader of an otherwise all male Asian street gang who supports her younger sister by participating in underground martial arts matches. Unfortunately for the Jones girls renegade Kung Fu master Stingray’s wife decides to split their unhappy home, prompting him to begin knocking off women that resemble her between bouts of oedipal yearning. Inevitably Kristi’s sis winds up in the morgue sans eyeballs and it’s time to paint Stingray’s secret lair red with the help of a sympathetic police detective.
Relentlessly entertaining direct-to-video madness brought to you by TNT fave Godfrey Ho, director of well over a hundred films, most of which feature the word “Ninja” somewhere in the title. Don Niam steals the show as one of the most unhinged b-movie villains ever, tearing through scenes like an unusually muscular Estevez brother on a coke jag. For your $0 you also get plenty of awkward dialog, 90s Hong Kong fashions, and the single greatest climactic fight scene of the mid-90s! Free admission! We’ll keep an eye out for ya!
