“My dear, you’re eating your husband’s ass!”
After a sleazy video distributor rips off director Alistair Bailey he retaliates by casting the thief’s friends and family in a snuff film.
TNT is proud to present cult auteur Michael J. Murphy’s DIY revenge fantasy BLOODSTREAM, filmed on 8mm for an estimated £400 which I believe is a record low even for us.
Part autobiographical catharsis / part commentary on the British “Video Nasties” panic of the 80’s, BLOODSTREAM is a testament to making it work with whatever’s laying around rather than concede defeat due to a lack of funds for things like sets, realistic FX, or fully functioning equipment. I have a crush on everything about it- from the hand drawn movie posters to the droning synth soundtrack to the sublime cheepnis of the horror tapes Alistair obsessively watches when he’s not out murdering his enemies. Films like BLOODSTREAM are why we here at TNT spend our off nights cruising the back alleys of genre cinema looking to score.
If you’re a geek prone to scoffing at things like the recording fidelity of punk records or visible monster suit zippers stay home. I’m sure there are videos of elderly people falling on Youtube you can laugh at or whatever instead. If you’re one of the enlightened mutants who GETS IT and in the mood for a dose of inspirational, lo-fi horror made by people who were definitely not in it for the money I’ll see you there.
