JFK – Director’s Cut
Oliver Stone and Robert RIchardson’s master class of historical docudrama filmmaking – JFK – was nominated for 8 Oscars and won 2. The film screens on the 55th anniversary of 11-22-63.
The Texas Theatre plays itself in the film. Jefferson Blvd was set dressed to look how it did in 1963 and a “new” box office was installed by the production crew which is still at the theatre today.
The film almost had it’s Texas Premiere at the Texas Theatre which was closed at the time but logistics moved the premiere to NorthPark 1/2 in 1991.
The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 was passed after the movie “JFK” stoked interest in Kennedy-related conspiracies. Many of the files were released Oct 2017.
