23 Year old rookie filmmaker John Singleton broke into the scene with the ground breaking BOYZ IN THE HOOD in 1991 which was also the film debut for Ice Cube. Singleton became the youngest director and the very first African-American in cinema history ever to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director. The iconic film was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry in 2002. Special 2K Presentation courtesy of Columbia Pictures.
