Brokeback Mountain: Co-Presented By Deep Vellum
Did you know our “minor regional writer” Larry McMurtry worked on the screenplay for Brokeback Mountain (2005)? And did you know that the film is based on a Pulitzer Prize winning short story by Annie Proulx? Deep Vellum, a Dallas-based nonprofit literary arts organization and publisher, is partnering with the Texas Theater to celebrate both of these fun facts.
Join Deep Vellum on Saturday, Feb 10th at 3PM at Deep Vellum (3000 Commerce St) to read Proulx’s short story out loud, then join us at the Texas Theater on Sunday, Feb 11th at 3PM to watch the film adaptation. Come early or stay late to peruse a selection of McMurtry titles, book-length editions of the short story that started it all, and other related titles at Deep Vellum’s pop-up bookshop.
