Home Movie Day Dallas 2023- Celebrating Home Movie And Video Preservation
The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza and the Dallas Municipal Archives, in partnership with the historic Texas Theatre, invite you to a free event in the upper theater and the upper lobby Sunday, October 22 from 2pm–5pm. Home Movie Day 2023 is a fun and informative event that celebrates the importance of saving and preserving home movies and home video.
Long before phone cameras and social media, small-gauge film stock like 16mm, Super 8, and videotape made it possible for people to document their lives at home and abroad. For two decades, Home Movie Day events all over the world have made it possible for individuals to share and reconnect with their own films. Home Movie Day volunteers, including media archivists, will be on hand to inspect and project these treasures and answer questions.

• We’ll have a DJ and found footage on the lobby wall for your entertainment
• Archivists will be on hand to assess and provide tips on saving your valuable home movies

Got an interesting old home movie on film or videotape to show? Drop it off at the Dallas Municipal Archives 9am-4:30pm M-F from October 1 – October 15 and we’ll inspect and prepare it for screening on October 22 during Home Movie Day. You can pick up your originals at the theater. The Dallas Municipal Archives is located in Room L2D North in Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla Street.
